Edinburg, TX — February 5th, 2026 - Last week Intelligent Video Solutions participated in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with VIDA and South Texas College which marked the new installation of the VIDA Nursing Simulation Centers at STC.
In a landmark achievement poised to revolutionize nursing education, The Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement (VIDA) secured a highly competitive $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor in 2023. A defining moment for the underprivileged region of South Texas, the award launched VIDA to implement an innovative augmented simulation lab for clinical training in nursing, benefiting over 700 participants in high-demand healthcare roles.
By championing state-of-the-art technology and public-private partnerships, VIDA is at the forefront of addressing the critical nursing labor shortage, particularly in the lower Rio Grande Valley.
The Valley region has long grappled with sparse resources in healthcare training and a staggering turnover rate of 27.1% among nurses in the year after their hire due to stress and burnout. These new learning environments along with continued support of VIDA to facilitate the successful completion of career training programs that enhance professional pathways to high-demand occupations and strengthen the community's ability to provide healthcare to their citizens.
Back in August 2023 Dr. Jayson Valerio, Dean of STC’s Nursing and Allied Health Division stated "We have to reach out to all our students regardless of where they are and allow them access to our simulation technology. Education must come anytime, anywhere, and through any modality."
This past week STC and Valley Initiative for Development and Advancement - VIDA celebrated the installation and integration of new cutting-edge simulation technology at the new nursing department. The half-a-million-dollar installation will leverage the power of revolutionary technology to improve education, training, and research for STC’s Nursing and Allied Health, Mid-Valley, and Starr County campuses.
Part of that technology that was implemented across 3 campuses in the healthcare simulation labs was Intelligent Video Solutions' premiere observation and recording platform VALT. Improving the skill development and efficiency of healthcare training through simple and secure video software. Students can use video to self-reflect and receive key feedback at specific moments in their session, which can be watched in real-time or reviewed later in debriefing sessions.
Implementing VALT across the three South Texas College campuses marks just the beginning of VIDA's comprehensive approach to high-tech learning. This investment in state-of-the-art technology will not only modernize the training process but will also create a ripple effect, enhancing the quality of patient care as graduates enter the workforce with a higher level of preparedness and skill.
