1. Please tell us about your organization and your role.
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is the founding school of Osteopathic Medicine, 1892, Kirksville, MO. ATSU School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (SOMA) delivers on its unique mission of preparing future physicians in primary care and needed specialties, to care for our nations most vulnerable populations and communities. Along with this, we pride ourselves on developing and providing our learners a robust and highly innovative, experiential curriculum. As Assistant Dean of Clinical Curriculum, IPE, and Simulation I have the privilege of working with an amazing team of faculty and simulation specialists to ensure an inspiring and seamless student user experience.
2. What challenges were you facing before implementing IVS solutions?
Our previous A/V recording system had a multitude of issues, some of which started from install, others due to hardware quality, and some from user experience in learning and navigating the system. When it came time to renew or replace we did our homework, looked at several vendors and decided to go with IVS/VALT.
3. What led you to choose VALT for your A/V capture needs?
We really liked how VALT is focused first and foremost on video and audio. Instead of creating a system that can do everything from run your sim-center inventory to completing all assessments, VALT stays focused on what we want an A/V system to do. They keep the solution simple and focus on delivering an outstanding user experience within the system.
4. How has IVS helped improve training, education, and/or research at your organization?
Training events and high-stakes assessments run smoothly with few surprises and little downtime. We appreciate that VALT poses one less obstacle in today’s challenging educational environment.
5. Please share a specific example of how your team uses IVS.
We use VALT for all assessments in our DO and PA programs that require recording for further review and archiving.
